GAUFF Foundation enables the purchase of three ECG devices
Beira is the capital of the Mozambican province of Sofala and is centrally located on the Indian Ocean. In order to establish basic pediatric cardiological care regionally and to enable the local doctors and medical students at the Catholic university to receive an adequate education, the GAUFF Foundation has made possible the purchase of three new ECG devices with its donation.
With these devices, solid pediatric cardiological diagnostics with echocardiography and ECG examinations can be offered in the pediatric cardiology outpatient clinic that has been newly established in 2023. This outpatient clinic was founded on the initiative of Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Haas, the Clinic Director at the Department of Pediatric Cardiology & Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine at Ludwig-Maximilian University Munich (LMU) Grosshadern, whose staff has also taken over the training of local doctors on the equipment.
Inpatients also benefit greatly from this cardiological outpatient clinic, as previously an ECG examination was practically impossible for patients with cardiac arrhythmias. This was an important milestone for children with heart disease in the province of Sofala (population 2.3 million).
