The GAUFF Foundation supports the work of the German Red Cross
For decades already, the heart of the GAUFF group beats for Africa. We were therefore particularly affected by the news of the deadliest outbreak of Ebola in recorded history in West Africa in 2014. The suffering of those affected and their family members is impossible to assess and combating this disease is a challenge faced by the world community.
The Red Cross opened a treatment centre for Ebola patients in Kenema, Sierra Leone and plans to expand to 100 beds. A first aid flight with approximately 25 tonnes of aid provisions, containing treatment cells, chlorine for disinfection, power generators and air conditioning systems, was sent to Sierra Leone on 4.11.2014. In mid-November the Red Cross, with the help of the German Bundeswehr, will open another clinic with 100 beds in Monrovia, Liberia. Long before opening the clinics, first aid providers were deployed to both regions.
This tremendous humanitarian catastrophe demands the help of the GAUFF foundation. We support the international engagement to combat the Ebola epidemic by a donation of 10.000,-- Euro to be used for the most important aid efforts of the German Red Cross in West Africa.
